http://www.meg.ie/tdf-2016-goulash-disko/ by Casey Philips: Headline act Caravana Banda’s set is jaw-dropping, mesmerising. Their sound, a fusion of Slavic and Balkan folk and Spanish Flamenco, creates a visceral need to physically move. You can’t not smile listening to them; you can’t avoid dancing along. Magda Navarrete, their frontwoman, commands with incredible presence, quietening the rowdy crowds for a tap-dance solo lit only by a small hand-held torch. Moving from quiet intimate moments like this to the bombast of their signature numbers like ‘Caravana’ and ‘Amor y Oro’, Caravana Banda has re-vitalized this tired reviewer. I had planned to crash for the week now that Fringe is over, but now I can’t imagine sleeping a wink. Roll on next year’s Fringe.
